Ability Connect 3.3

Ability Connect is a free application designed to facilitate real-time communication between multiple devices via Bluetooth, without necessitating an internet connection—although it also supports Wi-Fi or mobile data for added versatility. The application incorporates advanced content reading features tailored to meet the needs of diverse user groups, including individuals who are deaf, visually impaired, or dyslexic.

The platform operates in two modes: the emitter mode allows a user to initiate sessions and transmit text in real-time; the receiver mode enables one or more users to view active sessions and connect to receive the transmitted content in real time.

To enhance comprehension, Ability Connect offers various content presentation options: - Complete Reading: Users can customize background and text colors to improve contrast, as well as select font size and style for better readability. - Word-by-Word Reading: Content appears sequentially, word by word, with configurable parameters for appearance speed and standard display settings. - Text-to-Speech: An integrated speech synthesis function reads aloud the content, aiding users who benefit from auditory input.

The application includes an accessible text editor that utilizes the same adaptive reading features, allowing users to save documents for future consultation.

Potential use cases encompass: - A volunteer or note-taker capturing information from a classroom blackboard or lecturer; students can read the content in real time as it is being entered. - Language translation: a user can input text on the transmitting device, enabling a recipient to read or see it instantly in their preferred language. - Live subtitling at events: an individual can type what is being spoken on the transmitting device, while connected displays show the transcription in real time.
